Privacy Policy

How WeDeyForYou collects, uses, and protects your personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of Ghana.

Effective 1 January 2025

1. Overview

WeDeyForYou Ltd ("WeDeyForYou", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights under Ghanaian law, including the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

This Policy applies to all users of the WeDeyForYou platform — Customers, Artisans, and visitors to our website.

WeDeyForYou is registered as a data controller under the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. We collect only the data we need to operate the platform safely and effectively.

2. Data We Collect

Information You Provide

When you register or use the Platform, you provide us with: full name, phone number, email address, physical address, profile photo, identity document details (for Artisan verification), trade and skills information, payment details (Mobile Money number or bank account), and any job descriptions or messages you send.

Information We Collect Automatically

When you use the Platform, we automatically collect: device type and operating system, IP address and approximate location, pages visited and features used, timestamps of activity, and crash/error reports.

Information from Third Parties

If you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We do not receive your Google password. We may receive verification data from third-party identity verification providers.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To facilitate job bookings and match Customers with Artisans.
  • To process payments and payouts securely.
  • To verify the identity of Artisans and maintain platform safety.
  • To send transactional messages: booking confirmations, payment receipts, review requests.
  • To send service updates, new features, and promotional communications (you may opt out at any time).
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
  • To improve and develop the Platform through consent-based, pseudonymous analytics and aggregated reporting.
  • To comply with our legal obligations under Ghanaian law.

5. International Data Transfers

WeDeyForYou is based in Ghana. Some of our service providers (cloud hosting, identity verification, analytics) operate outside Ghana, including in the United States and the European Union.

When we transfer your data outside Ghana, we use providers that maintain industry-standard security certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2). For transfers from the European Economic Area, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or transfer to countries with an adequacy decision.

You may request a copy of the safeguards in place for any specific transfer by emailing hello@wedeyforyou.com.

6. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share your data only in the following circumstances:

Between Customers and Artisans

When a booking is made, we share the Customer's name, service address, and contact number with the matched Artisan, and the Artisan's name, rating, phone number, and profile with the Customer. This is necessary to complete the service.

Payment Processors

We share payment information with our payment processing partners (MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo, and card processors) solely to process transactions. These providers operate under their own privacy policies.

Identity Verification Providers

Artisan identity documents are securely shared with our vetted verification partner. Documents are not retained beyond the verification period.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose data to law enforcement or regulatory bodies if required by Ghanaian law, a court order, or to protect the safety of users.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active, and for a period thereafter as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

  • Account data: retained for the lifetime of the account plus 3 years after closure.
  • Transaction records: retained for 7 years to comply with Ghana Revenue Authority requirements.
  • Identity documents: retained for 6 months after verification, then securely deleted.
  • Communications and messages: retained for 2 years.
  • Pseudonymous user-level and event-level analytics: retained for up to 14 months. Aggregated or irreversibly anonymised metrics that can no longer be linked to a person may be retained indefinitely.

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Your Rights below). Some data must be retained for legal or safety reasons even after an account deletion request.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).
  • Secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure.
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing.
  • Staff training on data protection and privacy.
  • Strict access controls — staff access data only on a need-to-know basis.

9. Your Rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure — request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to Restriction — ask us to stop processing your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to Data Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object — object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@wedeyforyou.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh) or, if you are in the European Economic Area, with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Automated Decision-Making

We do not use your personal data for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. Our matching engine is a recommendation tool — final booking decisions are made by you.

10. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember your preferences, and analyse usage. Types of cookies we use:

  • Essential cookies — required for the Platform to function (login sessions, security tokens).
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how users interact with the Platform (Google Analytics).
  • Preference cookies — remember your language and display settings.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect Platform functionality.

11. Children's Privacy

The WeDeyForYou Platform is not directed at persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with their data, please contact us at hello@wedeyforyou.com and we will promptly delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available on the Platform.
